Different Entities...Same Responsibilities?

Three different entities are having similiar troubles. One, the NFL is having issues in regard to it's players having and playing with concussions. Next, the NFL is having issues in regard to it's former players having serious health issues after playing and today it's being discussed in Washington DC with congressional members to see if the NFL could do more and do right by it's former players.

Two, Major League Baseball is having problems with it's players using steroids or performance enhancing drugs. At this count one player who has admittedly used steroids and abused drugs is dead. Numerous of other players are now experiencing the downside of using steroids in the form of multiple injuries. Yet only one player is receiving the ridicule and ventriole of supposed pissed off fans for giving them back their sport that was heading to the white light after cancelling a world series due to strike. Players like Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa put the league on their shoulders and like pied piper brought the fans back to see "Big Mac" knock one out the stadium. For almost 5 years baseball enjoyed the huge thunderous smack of the bat of these home run giants, until the sport was back in it's rightful place, tied with basketball. Only now and after allegations by another admitted steroid user, Jose Canseco, is baseball and it's fans looking to find Frankenstein and burn a sacrifice to the baseball gods. And like the NFL, congress has bidded to place the tax-payer's two cents into this matter.

Three, professional wrestling. Although it is purely entertainment and a male soap opera of sort. The physical entertainment giant has seen almost 60 of its members or colleagues die before the age of 50 of steroid related deaths. The WWE had two members die of steroid related deaths and possibly one suicide due to the effects of using steroids.

Each sport or entertainment have one thing in common. They refuse to offer help or assistance to it's members. Do they owe some type of responsibility to them if any? What about morally? Each athlete or performer experience injuries every time they hit the field or mat. Some experience life threatening and career ending injuries and are never heard from again.

I think each entity should without help or assistance from the gov't.

RF23 - Opinion: As most of you know, I am not a proponent of the Al Sharpton or in this case Jesse Jackson. And you can tell I have dropped "Reverend" from their titles, cause they're not. I don't have enough respect to call them "Mister" or "sir" or whatever proper title that they or their supporters deem appropriate. It's just me....But for all the criticism and grand debates about these two bozo's of no significant importance and no electoral votes from black folk to make them representative of all black folk. The writer of the attached article is asking why these two poverty pimps are getting much media love.
It's a good question, but I have a problem with the column. What exactly is the point of the article? We know that these two shakedown artists are no damn good. We know the history of one Al Sharpton and the Tawana Brawley incident and we're aware of all the ugly stuff he's done. What we don't hear much about, is his caught on tape drug deal with undercover five - O. BUT! as I digress, this column isn't sharing any ground breaking news and it probably doesn't warrant post time, but since I don't like the permed one and his now stuttering sidekick out of Chicago...I figure what the hell!

No Peace at King Medical Center.

KING DREW PROBLEMS CONTINUES....

For those of you following the King Medical Center tragedy in which a woman was denied medical care and died at the hospital. Here are a bunch of articles written by the L.A. Times that basically shows that hospital should and needs to be closed.
Recently so called black activists, with their hearts in the right place is demanding that the hospital remain open despite a long history of being inept and quite frankly, a dangerous problem for the very community they are supposed to support. These same activists are demanding and insinuating that one of the reasons for the ineptness of the medical center is funding...Unfortunately, that excuse won't fly and county supervisors should honor that request and let them see the millions upon millions of dollars poured into that hospital. This very hospital was receiving a helluva lot more funding than neighboring UCLA-Harbor and USC.
On a personal note, once again this shows how wrong, regardless of where their heart lays, these community activists are. And I'm surprised that Earl Ofari Hutchinson is supporting that this hospital remains open. Next, one of the county supervisors, who changed her vote from closing to keeping the hospital open, is all of sudden quiet and haven't been seen. Maxine Waters who supported the hospital remaining open is quiet, last checked, the immigration bill hasn't reached congress yet and this problem is in her district. And lastly, this proves yet again, that any type of gov't involvement regardless if it city, county, state and federal is useless.

As an Iraq war veteran who participated in combat operations and political reconciliation efforts, I take issue with some of the arguments repeatedly being made on Capitol Hill. Most recently I was bothered by statements from Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), who cited three common antiwar arguments in his June 21 op-ed, " Lincoln's Example for Iraq," all of which run counter to realities on the ground in Iraq.

The attached legal matter is a good example for the need of loser pays. You all have heard by now the case of this administrative judge suing this mom and pop cleaner for losing his pants. Now based off that last sentence, you might say, damn RF23, I'll sue a business that did not honor it's part of the contract. Now what makes a contract?
One, you need to have an "offer"...example, you are window shopping and you see a nice set of golf clubs. You want those golf clubs and want to see if you can get them at a reasonable price. The business is holding still, on surprisingly a good deal and cheaper deal for you. You like the price and willilng to pay the offer price...

Two, and Two (a), You want the clubs, but you need to get it by the wife to see if this is a good purchase...So you "Consider" the price and whether it's a good purchase for your household finances... the wife says cool you can have them, but don't expect nothing except her for your anniversary....Two (a) you "Accept" the reasonable price of the clubs and make "tender payment for the clubs." You have just fulfilled a contract

Offer + Consideration + Acceptance + Delivery = contract

Now, it's not over, the seller has some responsibility, he has to make good on his product. In this case, a set of golf clubs in which he sold for a good reasonable price....You take them home, pull out a nine iron and notice that the shaft is broken. You go back to the seller and inform them that the product is defective.....The seller has one option to fulfill the completion of the contract. He can "replace" the clubs with a good set after inspection or if he cannot fulfil his part of the contract, he has to return your acceptance, which was payment for the clubs.
Now in this cleaner lawsuit, the contract was broken by the mom and pop cleaners by losing the pants....
Offer= to perform laundry service at a reasonable price
Acceptance = Allowing the cleaners to perform whatever duty the cleaner offered. Pay for the cleaners to perform its duty and expect to have the articles back at a certain date.

Delivery= The cleaners did not perform this duty, due to the fact that they lost or damaged the article of clothing...

Remedy: The cleaner could elect to replace the article plus refund the owner of the pants, the price he paid to have the service done.

That should have happened in this case, but it didn't..the owner, a judge in this matter felt some type punitive damages should be rewarded for losing his pants....and initially sued for $67 million and then was gracious enough to drop it down to $54 million. The presiding the judge rightfully dismissed the case and this is where my arguement comes in...

I believe if you sue someone on a bullbleep case, you should pay if you lose! everything from court costs, administrative fees, attorney fees, litigation support fees i.e. paralegal, secretary all that!!!

Now fortunately, the judge ruled that the plaintiff in this case, has to pay court fees and is looking into other fees mentioned above...my response is why the hell not!

Fanz23 Commentary: Sports

Well this is a blog that discuss everything from social issues to Hollywood to even Sports. So I'm going to show my wide arrange of variety. Hey! I'm cool like that.

Kobe Bryant: Look, in the beginning I didn't like the kid. He came off as brash and quite frankly I didn't like him as an individual. Now having said that, the boy got game. He won over my basketball props in the Lakers championship series against the Pacers. When the big man went down to fouls. Kobe by himself pulled the team on his shoulders and just jacked the Pacers. So I like his game, I like his diversity in being able to speak two different languages and unlike some of the high schoolers that came out...He's a bright young man. He plays hard and is competitive. Is competitive. Yeah, he's competitive to the point that he wanted to steer the ship the Captain Shaq was running. He's competitive to the point that he took over games just to score forty or fifty points with Shaq on the floor. He's competitive enough to become un-coachable at times and he's been competitive enough to allegedly quit on his team.


But the boy can play ball!

I don't know what's going on in his head, away from the basketball court he is quiet. Well with exception that he got with a girl that was still in high school, while he himself was over 21. And we got this allegation of rape in Colorado. Other than that, he's a quiet cat...So quiet that he ratted on Shaquille O'Neal to Littleton Police in regard to Shaq's discretions with other women.

But the boy can play ball!

Play ball. Hmmm Play ball. He didn't want to play ball with Shaq. He didn't want to play ball for Phil Jackson and Now today he doesn't want to play ball with the Lakers. On his website, www.kb24.com Kobe stated that he was upset with an insider saying he had everything to do with Shaq's departure. Until now a huge portion of Laker fans and fans of Shaq, were led to believe that was the case, cause, when asked about it. Kobe didn't answer. According to Kobe, he bit the bullet on this claim and until his entry on his website, was fine being the bad guy, fall guy. He than demanded a trade on the Stephen A. Smith Show. A few hours later, he was on the Dan Patrick Show saying the same thing. And then a few minutes laters, he's on a local radio show called the "Loose Cannons" saying that he wants to stay! So all of L.A. sigh in relief and before their heads hit the pillow. Kobe stands by his earlier statement of wanting to be traded. He than talks to Magic, Phil and eventually Laker Owner Jerry Buss. L.A. is led to believe that everything was cool and ironed out. The Lakers say they are going to make somethings happen. A deal or two falls through and Buss visits Kobe in Spain and after all that..

Kobe reinterates his stance of wanting to be traded. So what do the Lakers do, let 'em go? They can't! And no team in the league, unless Miami wants to play a sick joke on Shaq and trade straight up with Dwaynne Wade. Shaq and Kobe together again, this time in Miami! No, what Kobe needs to do is take another sleep pill and continue to lie in the bed he made.

Sorry, I Don't Get The Times..(LA.Times)

Over the past four years, my readership of the Los Angeles Times has declined. First, the stories, news reports were too biased and I didn't even look in the Op/Ed sections. Then, most of the columnists became pundits and left wing biased and painted blurred pictures such as the economy or if you're from the Los Angeles area, the local news here was painted with a slant. For instance, the [illegal] Immigration marches last year and this year. Obvious the paper and the local news were in support of having 12 to 20 million illegals demanding to be made citizens, after breaking the law.

Need more? There was a hate crime beating last year, where the victims were white and perpuatrators were a bunch of black teens. It was reported in another local paper, but it took the times almost a month to even report the story...Need more? A Los Angeles Fire Department member was fed, dog food as a prank and he sued. The times reported it, and made it a racial issue. So my dislike for the paper goes further than the left wing ideology it takes. And now this, a few months ago a sports columnist, wrote that he was becoming a she.

Now after reading this in the times and discussed on every radio talk show station. What does a person do who is not down with the transgender, gay-lesbian lifestyle? Well, they could accept it and continue buying the paper or...just move on. I choose to move on.

It used to be a time, that the only thing good about the times, was the sports section, with columnists like JA Adande, Bill Plashke and TJ Simers. But the coming out of Penner aka Christine Danies changes that. I can't give the times my fifty cents for bad columns, left wing biased reporting and now a sports section with transgenders on it. Nothing against Penner/ Daniels but I'm sorry, this is where we part ways. So..

Sorry I don't get the times.

As an English instructor, some may be appalled that I despise anything related to the English language or any type of punctuation mark, but it's true.
Hyphens should never be used because quite simply, hyphens are evil.
Before the noble "black leaders" of the land took it upon themselves to begin using the phrase African-American, I was perfectly happy living in my little black world. As a matter of fact, I loved being a black woman and only found out that my name had been changed when I saw Jesse Jackson talking to Katie Couric on the Today show.

Well the media circus is stewing in regard to Paris Hilton. Hilton was released from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department a little early than speculated. She was supposed to serve at least twenty-three days in County jail upon order of a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge for violating her probation...One mo' again for those who think she got forty something days for drunk driving. She violated her probation for drunk driving and reckless driving almost three years ago. Earlier this year, she was arrested for drunk driving and driving without a license. So lets squash the theory forty something days for DUI.
But this isn't the commentary. Once again, Co-Race Baitor Alfred Sharpton feels the need to express the anger of the black peoples of America over this woman's early release and made it race and class issue. This is the same Sharpton who once proclaimed that OJ is home, but Mumia Abu Jamal is still locked up. This is the same Mumia Abu Jamal who was on death row for killing a Philedelphia police officer. Now Sharpton is coming to Los Angeles to demand justice for us blackfolk by expressing for some black folk who can't express these thoughts because they are oppressed. One quick question for Sharples, what about justice for Officer Faulkner's family. Abu-Jamal should be in "findagrave" right next to Tookie Williams by now!
And Paris, girl get a hold of yourself. Remember the "entertainment tonight" segment that showcased you along with your water hose thick side kick, Nicole Richie, saying that you were seeking to get some "street cred." Now woman-up and cut out all that crying and clean your nose. I understand you're scared, but guess what? In that same jail, there is someone who is spending the night in jail for their very first time and they're scared too! Unfortunately, they don't have that extra clout to get them a cell by themselves. Which brings me to this....You screaming out "Mom! and this isn't right," is puzzling. And I have a question, It isn't right? are you saying that it isn't right for you? but someone who violated their probation in the same manner is fair game and should be locked up. And, consider this payback for your racial slurs back in February of this year....

Mumia Abu-Jamals crime:
On December 9, 1981, at approximately 3:55 a.m., Officer Danny Faulkner, a five year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, made a traffic stop at Locust Street near Twelfth Street. The car stopped by Officer Faulkner was being driven by William Cook. After making the stop, Danny called for assistance on his police radio and requested a police wagon to transport a prisoner. Unbeknownst to him, William Cook's brother, Wesley (aka Mumia Abu-Jamal) was across the street. As Danny attempted to handcuff William Cook, Mumia Abu-Jamal ran from across the street and shot the officer in the back. Danny turned and was able to fire one shot that struck Abu-Jamal in the chest; the wounded officer then fell to the pavement. Mumia Abu-Jamal stood over the downed officer and shot him four more times at close range, once directly in the face. Mumia Abu-Jamal was found still at the scene of the shooting by officers who arrived there within seconds. The murderer was slumped against the curb in front of his brother's car. In his possession was a .38 caliber revolver that records showed Mumia had purchased months earlier. The chamber of the gun had five spent cartridges. A cab driver, as well as other pedestrians, had witnessed the brutal slaying and identified Mumia Abu-Jamal as the killer both at the scene and during his trial. On July 2, 1982, after being tried before a jury of ten whites and two blacks, Mumia Abu-Jamal was convicted of murdering Officer Danny Faulkner. The next day, the jury sentenced him to death after deliberating for two hours. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania heard the defendant's appeals and upheld the conviction on March 6, 1989.

Is The NAACP Dying?

To the public, it comes with great sadness that a once great group that was so important during the civil rights movement is once again ill. We all remember the illness which drained this great organization of it's fighting will. When summoned to muster up enough strength, it simply could not and was physically bankrupt. Now today, after many diet changes and attempts to exercise. This organization is suffering from some type of cancer that needs to be removed or death will surely come.
You know it's a shame that an organization as great as the NAACP, is in such shambles and still sittin' on the back of the bus. It's failure as a black civil rights organization to discuss and tackle issues that are plaquing the black community and total disconnect from today's problems is one of the reasons why this civil rights giant is probably dying. What this organization doesn't need is some blow hard like Mychal Massie, running up to it with a shovel ready to bury it. The organization is still needed, but it missed the opportunity to step up for change and succombed to a 60's activists mindset and let a man who could've walked them to that goal in Bruce Gordon. Julian Bond, has got to realize that he's approaching blacks with a dead ideology and needs to recognize that he needs a "new jack" type of community leadership to tackle the issues of not only Black America, but all Americans.

Better Put This Down as yet another example of white people bashing Condi Rice with racial remarks and yet not a peep from the Kings of Race Baiting.

I don't watch The View for a litany of reasons, one, it's a chick gabfest. Two, I thought I was down with the cause of the wrongful termination Star Parker and three, Rosie O'Fat O'Donnell was on the show. I guess it's safe to say that the View won't have any black female co-host on the show.

Anyway, The History Channel needs to send someone down to the set of The View, cause after only one week from Rosie's departure, the set has become haunted and Rosie's ghost is still in her chair. Apparently this ghostly feature continued the idiotic statements made by Rosie through another non-funny comedian, Kathy Griffin. Griffin was on The View and got off this blast on Condi Rice:

"When people say "A woman" Maybe Condi Rice, She's not a Pro-woman-woman. Let me tell you something, she [Condi] is not a woman's woman." When asked why by Elizabeth Hasselback, she went on to say.


"Because she does whatever the white-man says. She does whatever the white-does"

My Response: Echoes the same as Barbara Walters, with the exception of love for Griffith. This is what Walters said:

"I love You...But what you said is so bigoted"

Now if Al Sharpton had to go to Utah for his bigoted speech against Mormons....Surely this B-List person should be sitting down next to Sharpton, Jackson, Imus and Richards. And for the record, I am going to go down this path and say this, the conversation on The View, not only bashed Rice, but it bashed men, white men. So the few bleeding and not yet castrated liberal men who would vote for He- illary just took off his skirt and rescued his cashews! And another thing, for my black bretheran, who you got? Hillary or Obama for their sex or race or for the issue (since it's only one in the debates)

Ahhh, I don't know where to start on this, I've been speechless before but dayum! Is this guy trying to derail his own presidential run before it gets good and heavy or what. A few weeks ago, he gaffed at the number of people who were killed in a tornado. No one said anything. And now he's comparing the federal gov't aid to folks in the Louisiana area as a riot waiting to happen. And uses the analogy of the Los Angeles riots in '91 as a good example.
Now, I'm pretty sure he fielded phone calls from a local civil b*itch moan and whine rights group called the "Talking Drum" for downgrading their "up-rising" to riot status. And I'm pretty sure that Maxine Waters was almost kicking his senate door down for calling her civil uprising to riot status.
So let me get this straight, black folk in New Orleans are quietly planning a riot cause they feel the funds are not coming fast enough. Yet, when warned by their local government, moved slower than molasses. And on a personal note, I was pretty disappointed to see so many abled bodies blacks get caught in that type of situation. I mean the theory of black folk having that sixth sense of flight has been ruined. I guess the Japanese have us built, I mean they did have practice running from Godzilla! But! a quiet riot in the City of New Orleans, isn't that redundant? Or the nation has been lied too, by Ray Nagin and the city is back and in full swing...

"How do we as African Americans define selling out? Is it dating outside of our race? Is it the shuck-and-jive entertainers? Is it the black Republican? Is it the overly ambitious, material-driven civil rights activist? Or, is it the well-spoken and studious black child? I believe we need a new paradigm of selling out. Today's sellouts are blacks who perpetuate violence and destruction in the black community and participate in the globalization of negative stereotypes and images of African Americans."He continues: "However, given the poor state of black America, I believe we should redefine if not expand the term. African Americans rank at the bottom of nearly every social, political, economic and health indicator in the country. We are among America's poorest, financially in debt and illiterate. Proportionate to the population, we comprise the single largest racial group in prison and are disproportionately the unhealthiest. Based on this reality, perhaps we need to redefine selling out to castigate blacks who enable this condition. I mean blacks who are destroying our communities: the real terrorists. I mean those who murder, rape and molest, sell drugs, and gang-bang; those who keep our communities looking pillaged. I mean blacks who perpetuate and celebrate violent and destructive culture. I mean blacks who reinforce the global pathology of violence against black women. I mean black entertainers and athletes who sell out to corporate America and consciously pimp a materialistic, misogynistic and violent culture to our youth. I mean black media that are raising a generation of young dummies on a diet of racially disparaging music and sleazy reality television. Today's sellouts are individuals who wreak havoc in the black community through various forms of violence, including degrading imagery, and those black-owned institutions and corporations that exploit the consumer strength of African Americans by overfeeding us with niggardly products. It's time to quit blaming others; to call a spade a spade, not a role model."

No Dammit!! It's Amnesty

The attached link is a prime example of why our elected officials just don't get it. A good example as to what the American people want in comparison to what special interest groups want. The American people regardless of what political affiliation has said and is saying that we don't want 12 to 20 million illegal aliens to get amnesty and a clear path to citizenship. Our elected officials has said and is saying that it isn't amnesty, but clearing a way for those millions of illegals to remain here and continue to working jobs that Americans wont' do, at those menial wages.

The article also points at a huge disconnect of the President and a few presidential wannabe's. These men are trying to get the vote of republican voters by trying to do what the democrats are doing. Keeping the focus on Iraq and the War on Terrorism, instead of talking about the number one issue of the american public. Illegal Immigration and how to stop the bleeding. Iraq and it's future is already covered. Talks of a cease fire have been completed between American Generals and members of the factions who are hellbent on destroying Iraq's democracy. Although no one has said it, but a timeline has been established as to when our troops will be pulling out and withdrawing from that region. So what's on the table? Economy? no. Healthcare? no. Education? Hell no! what about gas prices? no, well only whispers.

What's on the table is the issue of Illegal Immigration. And both parties better damn well address it and come up with a plan that doesn't feel and smell like amnesty.
